Taxi Slot
It’s a bit scary that this game is based on the Emmy award winning sitcom, ‘Taxi.’ Why? Well it doesn’t really feel nearly 40 years since this show was first making its viewers laugh. Just like the show itself there’s a fair amount happening here in this slot release from Leander games.
If you don’t remember the show (it must be floating around on some cable channel somewhere), then it was set in, wait for it, a taxi firm in New York. The company was run by Louie who was a right pain in the neck, was the villain of the piece and gave Danny DeVito his first major starring role. Also in the series was the gorgeous Marilu Henner as Elaine, Christopher Lloyd was the unkempt Jim before going on to star in the ‘Back to the Future’ films and there was the hilarious Andy Kaufman as Latka.
This game has five reels, three rows of symbols and there are a total of 25 pay-lines that will hopefully supply you with some good wins. Those 25 pay-lines are a fixed amount so you simply have to play them. That makes the minimum cost of playing £0.25 and the maximum £50. It’s simply a case of working out how much you can safely afford to stake on each spin of the reels.
The backdrop to the game is well-designed and shows some cars travelling over one of the main bridges in New York. The soundtrack to the game sounds a bit like the sitcom theme but not quite. It is rather repetitive so get ready to press the mute button that is situated down at the bottom of the screen.
Symbols in the game include some but not all of the main characters in the series, namely Louie, Jim, Elaine, Bobby and Tony. Latka must have been on a day off I guess. Five of the Louie symbols on an activated pay-line will win you 400x your line stake, it’s 250x for Elaine, 200x for Tony, 150x for Bobby and 100x for Jim. There’s also the ten to Ace playing card symbols that have a colourful look to them and are the lower paying symbols in this game.
The wild symbol in this game is the yellow taxi that they all try to earn their money in. This can earn you some money by substituting for other symbols to get you some good wins. It can also boost your account balance If five of them end up on an activated pay-line as that pays the top prize of 500x your line stake. It can’t substitute for all the symbols though because there’s the telephone which is the free spins symbol and the tannoy which is the bonus symbol, more about those in a moment.
There’s a fair amount happening in this game so it’s really advisable to take a look through the paytable. Also make sure you have some free games to see how this runs, especially the bonus games.
All the main control buttons for the game are situated down at the bottom of the screen. That means it’s easy to set or change the stake that you have for each spin of the reels. There’s also an autoplay feature that can be set for up to 100 automated spins of the reels.
Let’s Get this Garage Moving Bonus Game
If you can get three of the Free Spins symbols anywhere on reels one, three and five, then this gets you a total of ten free spins. If the telephone symbol appears on the fifth reel this will do you a favour by turning a symbol wild. Not just that but you’ll receive another two free spins. The wild can substitute for all the symbols and if you get five of each of the main TV characters they now pay 500x your line bet, four gets you 150x and three 50x.
Flag This Down Bonus
If the Bonus symbol appears on the third reel this triggers the bonus game. All you do is press the star button and then the taxi drives along and reveals a cash prize.
Final Words
‘Taxi’ was a good laugh and the slot game is also an entertaining one. It’s a shame a couple more of the main characters don’t make an appearance on the reels. The look of the game is a good one and the two bonus games can definitely be lucrative and aren’t too difficult to trigger. All in all, another good release from Leander Games.
bonus on the middle reel, which is the third reel.
